The effort to assist in preserving our rich history begins by telling the story behind the architecture and buildings in each of the historic districts. There's no better way to tell this story than through great photos.

Welcome to the Maryland Association of Historic District Commissions

The mission of the Maryland Association of Historic District Commissions (MAHDC) is to provide advocacy, training and program support for historic preservation commissions and local governments across the state. Formed in 1979, MAHDC serves 47 Commissions, representing both urban and local historic districts, local governments, commissioners, and residents and owners of historic properties. Our basic philosophy is that by working together, Maryland’s historic district commissions can help one another become more effective protectors of the historic resources in each of their own communities.

2009 Maryland Preservation and Revitalization Conference
Come to Baltimore this May 28-29, 2009 for the 2009 Maryland Preservation and Revitalization Conference. The conference is to be held at the Treemont Grand in Baltimore City. MAHDC is sponsoring a session on Friday morning: ‘66 B and you: What You Must and What You May’, and ‘Outreach and Education Strategies for Commissions’ during the afternoon working sessions. We are also pleased that we will have Rev. Brown Morton (co-author of the Secretary of the Interior Standards for Rehabilitation and past director of the historic preservation program at Mary Washington College) as our keynote speaker for MAHDC’s annual meeting and luncheon, which is also scheduled for Friday afternoon. The conference is an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas and to learn from others. Contact Preservation Maryland for registration information.
